European Central Bank: Schnabel, we will not tolerate spreads at guard levels – last hour

(ANSA) – ROME, June 14 – “While waiting for European capitals to improve the economic structure of the Union, monetary policy will have to respond to destabilizing market dynamics. We will not tolerate changes in financial conditions that go beyond fundamentals and threaten the transmission of monetary policy.”

This was stated by Isabelle Schnabel, member of the Executive Committee of the European Central Bank, during a speech at the Sorbonne University in Paris under which we are “closely watching developments in the markets” and are ready “to respond to new emergencies both using tools and perhaps, with new ones, to counteract” price adjustments that threaten the transmission of monetary policy.” (Dealing).
