MTB Mag – | New MDE Stray

MDE introduces the new Stray Mountain Bike, an all-mountain bike with 150mm of travel and an aluminum frame. Details in the press release.

[Comunicato stampa] Following the huge success of Damper with its I-link 2.0 suspension, the backbone of the Enduro class, and by Carve, the hiking tire, today’s MDE bikes introduce the new Stray. Designed for 360° AllMountain, it uses 210x55mm metric shock absorbers that make rear travel up to 150mm; The geometry is also designed for All Mountain custom use along with a 150mm fork for the 29-inch version and a 160mm fork for the 27.5-inch version.

So the new Stray is sandwiched between Damper and Carve and is designed for those who want to use one bike to do a little bit of everything; From long hikes in the Alps, to picnics behind the house to days at the bike park. A complete car with very high performance both in pedaling, thanks to the very stable and engaging I-link 2.0, and in landing, thanks to engineering that is not extreme but allows you in any case to tackle any technical or fast track with absolute safety and in complete fun.

MDE STRAY is a stray with excellent pedigree designed to roam around in search of new adventures!

Designed, developed and handcrafted in Italy
Fully customizable and custom made in a limited quantity

The MDE Stray is designed to maximize pedaling performance and efficiency while maintaining excellent performance on the slopes. It uses the I-LINK 2.0 suspension system that it shares with its siblings, the Carve and Damper. It is fully customizable like any MDE product, from geometry, colors and fixtures. It can be ordered immediately on the website ( MDE offers standard geometry for both 29-inch wheels (which can also be mullet fitted) and 27.5-inch wheels. For the most demanding, it is also possible to get a custom gauge tire (rider tuning geometry) at an additional cost of €200.

29- Reckless Geometry

The suspension is incredibly stable on the pedals, and has great absorbency while maintaining great engagement. Built to MDE specifications by American Enduro Bearings, large pins and oversized bearings ensure increased rigidity and resistance without adding weight. The rear strut is CNC machined and the tubing is 7005/7020 aluminum, the head tube is tapered with a standard zero stack above (44mm) and below (56mm). The shock absorber is fixed to the rear frame by means of a special fork that stabilizes the shock absorber and is connected to the rear frame by two bearings; This allows better fluidity of the process and a longer duration. The Stray also uses a new external cable routing system (only dropper shaft cable is incorporated) with 3D-printed clips that attach the cables over the top tube.

Stray engineering 27.5

MDE continues to offer both versions 29″ and 27.5″. In the former case, the standard geometry is based on a 29-inch fork with 150mm of travel in an extremely vertical saddle angle (77.9 degrees) that ensures exceptional pedal-rise behavior coupled with the extremely stable I-link suspension. 2.0; Extended top tube and reach lengths, 65° head angle, 24mm BB drop for 346mm ground clearance. The compact head tube made it possible to have lower stakes in the stack to benefit from the precision and maneuverability of the front axle. The frame geometry for the 27.5 wheels is based on a 160mm fork and has a saddle angle of 76.9 degrees, and the reach and top tube is similar to a 29-inch bottom head angle of 64.5 degrees and a ground clearance of 345mm. The Stray 29 can also be set up in the Mullet version with short dropout periods for a more aggressive setup.
