Due to heavy rains in the past few hours, Warragamba Dam, in southwest Sydney, began flooding in the early hours of the morning, long before authorities expected. In Camden, a suburb of the city, emergency services rescued 29 people from flooding and were called 1,400 times in one day. Thousands of Sydney residents have been ordered to leave their homes due to the bad weather. In March, floods caused by severe thunderstorms swept through western Sydney, killing 20 people.
