Today’s Gospel July 7, 2022: Matthew 10:7-15

Let’s listen to the Gospel of Thursday, July 7, 2022, in which we give you some ideas: “Give as it is given.”

“This gospel concerns us also, and not only priests, but all baptized people who are called to bear witness to the gospel of Christ in various life environments. A baptized person who does not feel the need to proclaim the Gospel, and to proclaim Jesus, is not a good Christian.”

Fourteenth Week in Ordinary Time – Second Week of the Psalms – Year C

From the Bible according to Matthew 10:7-15

At that time, Jesus said to his apostles: “Along the way, preach that the kingdom of heaven is near. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Give as it is given. Do not put in your belts gold, silver, money, suitcase, jackets, slippers, or crutches, for the worker has a right to his food.

Whatever city or village you enter, ask who is worthy there and stay there until you go. When you enter the house, greet her. If this house is worth it, let your peace rest upon it; But if it is not worthy, your peace shall return to you.

And if no one greets you and does not listen to your words, leave that house or that city and Get rid of dust on your feet. Truly I say to you, on the Day of Judgment, the land of Sodom and Gomorrah will be treated with less cruelty than that city.”

The word of the Lord.
Praise be to you or to Christ.

Comment from Pope Francis

This gospel matters to us tooAnd not only priests, but all the baptized, are called to bear witness to the Gospel of Christ in the different environments of life. And for us, too, this message is authentic only starting with its fixed center which is Jesus, and it is precisely baptism that makes us missionaries.

A baptized person who does not feel the need to proclaim the Gospel and proclaim Jesus, is not a good Christian. The second characteristic of the sender’s style is, so to speak, the face consisting of poverty of means. The master wants them free and lightwithout support and without favours, sure only of the love of those who send them, strong only of his word that they go to proclaim..
